Bivariate data: correlation in scattergraphs
Last updated: 15/11/2023
A great worksheet to help students interpret scattergraphs and understand types of correlation (positive or negative) and degrees of correlation (strong, weak or none).
Students match combinations of two variables to six different scattergraphs – a thought-provoking way of making them consider which variables might be related and in what way.
They then reflect on the difference between positive and negative correlation and practise describing correlation types succinctly.
Finally, they consider how to interpret the presence of outliers in a data set.
