Five quick pronunciation activities
These activities could function as warmers, coolers, fillers, awareness-raising tasks or just a bit of fun. They are suitable for a wide range of ages and levels and include games for practising phonemic script, an activity for raising awareness of syllable stress, a minimal pairs version of Chinese whispers, a simple but entertaining task for working on intonation and its meanings.

2. Guess the word (A2–B2)
Say a sentence, but instead of saying one of the key words, hum its syllable stress pattern, for example:
I’m going to the DUM-dee-dee tomorrow night. (cinema)
Can you give me some dee-DUM? (advice)
Students get one point for guessing an appropriate word with the same stress pattern, for example stadium for cinema, and another point for guessing the exact word.
